what a translation of the legendary late Lei Dai Sor...
he was the voice of Cantonese story-telling back in the 60s to 80s when we still have the thing called Rediffusion...
i grew up during those times...
though i could hardly remember listening to Lei Dai Sor because i was Hokkien...

the play was the life story of Lei Dai Sor...
a story with a sad ending...
he was at his peak when the Government introduced the "Speak Mandarin" campaign...
which ended his career...
a loss of not just a person... but also of the various dialect languages and cultures...
very sad indeed...

fantastic performances by the cast...
especially the protagonist...
the use of Chinese opera and characters from the Cantonese stories connected the play nicely...
but at three-hours, the play was too long...
good to see a number of old folks watching the play...
it must have brought back a lot of memories for them...
