KTV weekend...

Friday night met up with Kerry for dinner to pour my heart out about my recent "not-so-good" appraisal with my director... thanks for the listening ear...

then it was KTV time @ K-Box Marina Square... good to sing my heart out too...

Saturday afternoon went for Leslie Kee's Super Stars photo exhibition @ the National Museum with Melvin... fantastic pictures of celebrities, including some Singapore ones like Zoe Tay, Adam Chen, Christopher Lee, Ann Kok, David Gan, Darren Hee and Vincent Ng... photo-taking is not just about the angles and lightings, but also about capturing the spirits of the persons... of course, those elaborate costumes (or lack thereof) and make-up really enhanced the effects... very inspiring...

next was Eternal Summer with the Ugly Dolls @ Cineleisure... beautifully filmed... beautiful love stories... beautiful music... and a beautiful cast... Bryant Chang gave a credible debut performance as the shy young man who fell in love with his classmate... a lot of questions are unanswered... a lot of actions unexplained... but ignore all those, Eternal Summer is still an enjoyable movie... the use of mirrors / reflections in the early part of the movie sort ot attracted me somewhat...

dinner was served @ California Pizza Kitchen, with Titus joining us... as usual, the Peking Duck pizza did not disappoint... while the mushroom ravioli was perfectly cooked... of course, the tiramisu, chocolate souffle cake and chocolate brownie desserts made our day...

the group decided to sing song... no rooms @ Partyworld Crown Prince and we had to settle for K-Box Cineleisure... K-Box should issue me with a loyalty card soon...

Coke Zero...

found this version of Coke Zero from some 7-11 stores...
it's imported from Korea...
different taste from the one i had in Australia...
Coke Zero is supposed to taste like the actual Coke without the calories...

Qi Ji Nasi Lemak...

Sunday evening...
on my way to the interchange from Hougang Mall...
noticed a Qi Ji...
bought nasi lemak...
just before i reached the interchange...
saw a stall selling rojak...
bought two packets: one for me (without pineapple) and one for mum...
both with chilli...

this morning...
my ass is painful...
been to the toilet four times already...
must be due to the chilli...
from the nasi lemak and the rojak...

i should cut down on (if not stop) my chilli intake from now on...

Saturday...

met KC for lunch at Cineleisure after attending Don's Bodypump class at Raffles Place...
KC was here for the Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) which he has been attending for years now...
this year he's only watching six movies from the SIFF...
but he also caught a few other movies now showing in Singapore which were banned (or likely to be banned) in Malaysia...

we saw 20 Centimetres...
a Spanish film about a man who wants to be a woman...
he was at the final stage of becoming a woman - to snip off the extra meat between his legs, all 20 centimetres of it...
the show was fun to watch cos each time the character fell asleep, she went into a song-and-dance routine...
songs featured included Spanish ones, Madonna's True Blue and Queen's I Want To Break Free...
there were also a couple of full frontal male nudity...
huge dicks these men have...

after the movie, we met Eugene for an early dinner at the SBC food court next to Palais Renaissance...
the tze char was quite good...
too bad the satay bee hoon stall was closed...
we actually finished our five-dish dinner in less than an hour...
and adjourned to some coffee place (at the location where Hoi Lau San used to be)...
they actually have seven (or was it eight) different types of brews for my Americano...

while KC continued with another of his SIFF movie, Eugene and i headed to the Drama Centre for Blithe Spirit...
wasn't impressed with the play...
although we were seated on row E, we could hardly hear some of the characters on stage...
the story was alright and there were the funny bits here and there...
the ending was amazingly and unbelievably abrupt...

i enjoyed Kheng Hua's performance...
and Pam Oei never failed in impressing us with her various accents...
this time it's the Philippino accent...

The Cathay Restaurant... A Review...

when we stepped into the restaurant, it was rather quiet with only two tables occupied...
and throughout our dinner, there were only one other couple who came in...
my thought on the low patronage could be because of the following:
1. the food is pricey (although it's nice)...
2. The Cathay is surrounded by SMU with mostly students coming to watch movies... and they cannot afford such expensive meals...
3. only about half of the shops are in operation...

the restaurant had rooms for private gatherings / functions...
there were also paintings of the stars of the 50s to 70s...
and they were playing zhou xuan and other oldies throughout the evening...
very nostalgic...

after looking at the three 1 for 1 menus (HSBC @ S$68+++, UOB @ S$78+++ & AMEX @ S$88+++), we opted for the UOB 1-1...

the food is generally very good...
tasty with good presentation...
the shark's fin soup comes with pieces (not shreds) of shark's fin...
while the satay sauce went perfectly well with the pork chops...
and the dessert of sea coconut with bai mu er and apricot was cool and refreshing...
the service was top notch, with the waiter smiling all the time...
however, they did serve the food a little too fast...
before we could finish the pork chops, the toufu was already on our table...

one major flaw was the lime juice that came as sweet as syrup water...
they changed it when the waiter who was settling the bill with us noticed that the lime juice was nearly untouched...
the replacement was too sour for our taste but we still finished it...

besides the food, we did a lot of catching up too...
and throughout the night i was playing the devil's advocate...
something that i've become very good at nowadays...

thank you, Kerry, for a wonderful dinner and the great company, always...
total damage for the 6-course dinner + lime juice + honeydew juice (that costs us S$7) + mango pomelo dessert was S$116...

took both of them by surprise...

yesterday on the NEL home, Mousez bumped into a female friend...

until she came to greet Mousez before alighting at Serangoon...
she commented that Mousez looked darker...

Run Baby Run...

went for a 10km run on a Sunday evening...
managed to clock 1:00:34...
bad timing and need to improve on it if i really wanna hit sub-2 for my 21km run in September...

oh ya... i just cannot seem to be able to concentrate on my reading...
the texts were damn boring...
well, how interesting can theories on internal auditing be, ya??
four more weeks to go before the exams...
and i am barely passed the first chapter of the first of three books...
argh...
wish me luck...

14 April 2007

Saturday...

most of the day was spent at home...
resting and studying...

met up with Roy, Leonard, Raffy and Shaoann for dinner...
attended the Singapore International Film Festival screening of the Singapore short film finalists @ The Substation...

the animation film., White, was cute...
moral of the story: be contented with what you are...
changing yourself may end up with a bigger mistake...

black and white Fonzi was kinda abstract...
are we all trapped somewhere, trying to get ourselves out??
including the director??

Conversations was sweetly filmed...
love the soundtrack...

Katong Fugue was nicely adapted from Alfian Saat's play...
the straight couple behind me was shocked and started whispering "boyfriend wor" when the credits started...
cos "boyfriend" (of the male lead) was listed as one of the characters in the film...

Blowjob was painful to watch...
the lead seems to be in pain and agony...
but what do you expect if you were blown for 13 minutes and not cummed??
maybe i should film myself receiving a blowjob to see if my reactions are the same...

after that, i joined the Adlus gang for coffee and cakes at Menotti...
50% off pastries after 10pm...

Being Happy

http://thedailyenlightenment.com/pics/425.jpg

Unless we practice loving feelings (metta) toward everyone we meet,
day in, day out, we're missing out on the most joyous part of life.
If we can actually open our hearts, there's no difficulty in being happy.

Adam Lee

Timberlake To Write Songs For Madonna

Pop superstar JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is writing songs for Madonna's new album. The Queen of Pop's new record is expected to be released later this year (November 2007), and she has reigned in Timberlake to write a few tracks. The CRY ME A RIVER hitmaker says, "I have been working on some new music. But it's not for myself - I'm writing for other people. I'm working on some stuff for Madonna." Timberlake was spotted heading into a West London studio with Madonna yesterday (10 April 2007) to work on the forthcoming album, reports British newspaper The Sun.

Pay Rise...

so it has been announced...
civil servants are gonna get their pay rise of up to 33%...
Ministers included... naturally...
total increase would cost us an additional S$214 million...

wonder how come all these were not mentioned during the GE debate...
and how come the ruling party did not include these into their "package" for the voters' consideration...

is the timing correct?? DEFINITELY...
bad news immediately after the elections...
and good news before...
that's politics for all of us...
lessons we must not forget...

and where the hell are my covered walkways?!?!

What Mythological Creature Are You?

You Are a Chimera
You are very outgoing and well connected to many people. Incredibly devoted to your family and friends, you find purpose in nurturing others. You are rarely alone, and you do best in the company of others. You are incredibly expressive, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by your strong emotions.

Expectations = Disappointment??

i was so looking forward to it...
and in the end, i did not enjoy it...
and i was not the only one...
before the show, i had already received mixed reviews from friends...
two schools of thought...
those who've seen other musicals (e.g. Les Miserables or the previous Phantom), didn't like it...
those who're new to musicals, enjoyed it...

i have not seen Les Miserables or the previous Phantom...
but i have seen Miss Saigon, West Side Story, Forbidden City, etc...
no doubt the set was impressive...
international standards...
but there is no chemistry between the performers...
everyone is merely singing their parts...
there is little or no emotions between them...
i wasn't moved or touched...
at least i was touched by Forbidden City...
and Chang & Eng...

go watch it only if you have spare cash...

It's Finally Here...

Heroes Sunday...

have i told you that i am officially an Heroes addict now??
woke up at around 11am...
stopped at episode 11...
7 more to go...
dinner with family...
watched Phantom Of The Opera movie DVD...

Kenneth Saturday...

after a week of planning, the day has finally arrived... Kenneth's birthday...

was out since the early afternoon to look for suitable gifts... from Marina Square to CityLink to Raffles City to Bugis Junction to Raffles Hotel... finally decided on Molton Brown... bought an 18th birthday card cos Kenneth always claims that he's 18... oh well, let him enjoy the day lah... hahahaha...

met up with the rest of the gang of nine for dinner at Wah Lok Carlton Hotel... nice to see Patrick from HK... and Kenneth's two galfriends, whose names i cannot quite remember... were they Christine and Sharon or something... and also very glad that Shaun could leave the office and join us for the celebrations... we were the loudest and noisiest table in the entire restaurant... we had the cake-cutting at the restaurant, thanks to Titus for sponsoring the cake...

after dinner we headed to K-Box Marina Square to sing our hearts out... this K-Box wasn't as cold as the one in Cineleisure... and the system was much newer...

came home at 4am... i knew my mission was accomplished when i received an SMS from Kenneth at around 4:10am...

tired... yet i was feeling happy... showered and went straight to bed... with a smile on my face...
