Yet... Another Eventful Weekend...

the weekend flew past just like that... amazing!!

Friday 27 October 2006

met up with Kerry for dinner at Vivocity... his first time... showed him around the outside and inside of the huge mall... including the GV...

finally i managed to visit GAP... some nice clothings...

wanted to have dinner but all the places were packed... decided to go outside for a drag and updated each other on the happenings in our lives for the last couple of weeks... Kerry got himself a place in Mountbatten... so happy for him... envious too... hehe... i updated him on a particular person in my life right now... so much to talk about just one person... sigh...

at around 9pm, we sat down at Shin Kushiya... nice Japanese food... although a couple of the dishes we ordered were sold out by then... the restaurant have their own types of salts: green tea salt, curry salt and some purple coloured one...

it's good to see that the NEL is crowded... although most of the commuters alighted at Outram and Dhoby Ghaut stations...

Saturday 28 October 2006

K-lunch with S and T... as promised, T was singing songs by female artistes throughout the entire session... so cute... finally got to hear S sing a song by himself!! keep it up... next time don't be shy wor... sing your hearts out and enjoy it, ya?

after that, we headed to Far East Plaza cos S wanted to cut his hair... before that, we had "lunch" at one of the tze char place... there were so many of them on the top floor...

three of us parted ways after that: S had his hair cut; T went home while i went to meet the Chan Brothers at Suntec City... wanted to check out their tour packages... when my turn came to meet the "consultant", was disappointed by the news that the packages were for 2 pax and above... not for single traveller... WTF!!!!! was told to check out the main office from Monday on...

as i was walking aimlessly in Times bookshop, S SMSed to say that he has finished his haircut and asked what i was doing... we decided to meet up for coffee and a movie... got our tickets for The Prestige at Cineleisure... diner was at Spagheddies @ Paragon... the chicken and fish combo sucked... the crayfish pasta was very good... the calamari was tender and crispy...

enjoyed The Prestige totally! for once, i did find Hugh Jackman to be good looking... Christian Bale paled in comparison... this was also my third Scarlett Johansson's movie (after Scoop and The Black Dahlia)... unbelievable!!

the packed day ended with dessert at Coffee Club outside California Orchard... had the fondue and the passion fruit tea... sinful but nice!!

Sunday 29 October 2006
woke up at 6am to join a couple of the Adlus guys for a 10km run at MacRitchie... it's been more than a year since i last ran there... good run, despite the usual complaints about the uneven terrain and the slopes...

breakfast was at the roti prata place in Thomson... crowded and waited a long while for our food... but it was worth the wait cos the pratas were crispy and nice and the curry was delicious...

came home, slept a little before having tuition from 3pm to 7pm... discussed about my Taipei trip with my student... he's gonna get his parents / friends to help me source for accommodation... and since he will be back in Taipei during the school holidays, he's gonna show me around... was talking about visiting Taipei 10e and some other places... i gotta settle my flight and get my leave approved soon...

heavy downpour... sudden but nice...

All Out Of Love...

SHIT...
i'm so in love with this song lor...
no pun intended lor...

I'm lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts
I know you hurt too but what else can we do
Tormented and torn apart
I wish I could carry your smile and my heart
For times when my life feels so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know

Chorus:
I 'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I 'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

I want you to come back and carry me home
Away from this long lonely nights
I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too
Does the feeling seem oh so right
And what would you say if I called on you now
And said that I can't hold on
There's no easy way, it gets harder each day
Please love me or I'll be gone, I'll be gone

Chorus

Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?

Chorus(3x)

Movie Ticket Prices...

as GV opens its largest outlet in Vivocity, Cathay has reduced its movie ticket prices by S$0.50... and if you're a UOB credit card holder, 15% off first two tickets purchased, while OCBC credit card holders receive 10% off any number of tickets purchased...

as for GV, if you're a SAFRA member, weekend tickets are S$8.00 each... and if you ALSO hold an HSBC credit card, you receive another dollar off... so you pay $7.00 per ticket...

COOL deals right??

Vivocity - A Report...

one word to describe it... HUGE... and it's beautiful... from the outside and the inside...

on the outside, besides the 7 art pieces, there are plenty of water... there's a knee-deep pool for kids (and adults) to play in...

1. Tangs is pretty... i like the "cheena-looking" metal grilles...
2. GV is HUGE... spacious... and at the same time cosy... you see friendly ushers / counter sales people with their million-dollar smiles that make your movie-going experience a pleasure...
3. Crystal Jade looks ultra high-class... with the gorgeous lamps and chairs...
4. Tung Lok is opening a stall there too... with their signature dishes... i wonder how much a dinner will cost...
5. Candy Empire... what can i say... a treat for all the sweet tooth homosapiens... Vince kept reminding me of the calories in them... hahahaha...
6. Kim Gary HK Cafe is opening an outlet here... cannot wait... every time i visit Kuala Lumpur, i have to make a trip to Kim Gary for a meal... my ritual... the food is simply sedap... far much better than the HK cafes in Singapore that have been popping out like bubble tea outlets now...

Vince said he won't be back mainly due to the location and inaccessibility from the East...
but i know that i'll definitely be back...

with the school holidays coming soon in November and December, i cannot wait to see how they will transform Vivocity to be a place for kids and their parents to spend their holidays in...
and for me to spend my Christmas in...

but before that, remember that the Grand Opening is on 1 December 2006...

Me... Myself... And I...

cold...
unfeeling...
self-centred...

those were the words...
an ex-colleague described me...
during our chat on MSN...
he also said that i have changed...

no...
i am not offended...

on the contrary...

i agree with him...
wholeheartedly...

thank you for the feedback...

IPPT

changed my IPPT from today to 4 November 2006... i gotta clear it by 29 November 2006...

friend chided me for booking my IPPT at Toa Payoh SAFRA gym... but i seriously think they are more lenient when it come to (my weakest) chin ups at SAFRA gym... i only want to pass... not interested in the monetary awards lor...

12 October 2006

The Girlie Show...

met Kerry for dinner at Aerins @ Raffles City Marketplace... my first time meeting him since his return from his two-week US trip... it's nice to catch up with him on so many things...

he managed to help me get Madonna's The Girlie Show DVD... thanks dude!! i had the LD for this and for her Blonde Ambition tour...

i was wondering why i didn't buy this concert DVD during my trips to HK, Japan, etc... but i do have Ciao Italia and Drowned World Tour... i think too much...

Lunch + Coffee

met David for lunch at Raffles City food court... simple meal...

then we went on mini-shopping (by my standard) at Robinsons cos he's looking for a key pouch... settled on Braun Buffel in less than 5 minutes... realised that he didn't have a Robinsons card...

next we had coffee at Gloria Jeans... 2 customers ahead of us... one ordered food while the other ordered coffee... waited for like ages before my drinks were ready... service was really bad...

but the company and the chat made up for everything...

thanx, David, for a good lunch...

10 October 2006

Wedding Music / Songs...

a friend of mine asked me to source for songs for his wedding dinner in November... three songs needed...

one specially requested by him is Westlife's Unbreakable... he's a Westlife "fan" and has been singing their songs every time we went karaoke...

the other one i've selected is Shayne Ward's either "That's My Goal" or "Stand By Me"... i particularly like the keyboard start to "Stand By Me"... perfect for the bride to come enter the hall in her evening gown...

as for the other music for the waiters to serve the food... major headache... been listening to Muse... and Dead Can Dance... and even some techno music... to give that punch i was looking for... one other track that i liked is from the Shanghai Lounge Divas Remixed CD...

any comments / suggestions??

ps: if it's my wedding, then it has to be Madonna all night long... same goes for my funeral...

Still Sick...

tummy ache still not subsided... went back to see doctor... and was given an injection... doctor concluded that it's some gastro virus, a different type from those students'...

on medical leave for another day... was sleeping the whole morning... just had lunch...

gonna finish The Zahir so that i can start reading Mitch Albom's new book that i borrowed from Kenneth... yeah!!

9 October 2006

Pills Pills Pills...

these are the pills i had to take each time...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

MC Monday...

woke up this morning with still a slight pain in lower abdominals... went to see the GP and was given MC for today... plus 6 different types of medicine for the pain, cramps, diarrhoea, etc... *faint* gonna rest and sleep...

thank to everyone for the well wishes... God bless you guys too...

8 October 2006

Social Sunday...

dad asked me to help him cut an mp3 ringtone... it's some Buddhist chants... i just find it very strange... but did it for him anyway...

met up with Shaun and Kenneth @ Shaun's place in Bishan for a mini-gathering... too bad David is out of town... caught up with each other quite a fair bit...

visited Bishan library... bumped into Tracy... who was sitting on the couch enjoying her book...

dinner was at Crystal Jade... had congee due to my tummy condition... after we said goodbye, my tummy started getting cranky... went to the toilet in the library to ease myself... when i was home, the tummy ache hit me again... another round of LS... all watery... sigh...

Shaun said that it could be stomach flu... the one that hit the kids in some schools... will go see my own family doctor tomorrow...

goodnight world...

7 October 2006

Chang Er Part Deux...

Chang Er decided to pay another visit this evening... this time it's thanks to Patrick who posted his receipt from the donation he made... 0076 starter prize... S$250 in the pockets...

mum has been busy collecting money for me... and she's not complaining since she gets to keep part of the winnings... hahahaha...

Burn Burn Burn...

as the forest fires in Indonesia continues to burn, my tummy and chest is not relaxing in their activities too... the chest and tummy cramps can get very bad... excruciating, probably comparable to giving birth... they come and go... very tiring...

i continued to go out with Vince... just so as not to disappoint him, and myself... had a good time chatting with him, listening to his complaints about his tennis game in the morning... hehe...

Stay Alive was good... elements of horror, excitement and suspense... though the ending was a little too abrupt...

No Starlight Cinema...

the haze is really bad... Vince n i decided not to risk our health... watching Stay Alive at GV Marina instead...

Books...

yesterday dropped by MPH during lunch... saw that both Mitch Albom and Paulo Coelho's new books were on 20%... after much deliberation, decided not to buy them... cos i'm borrowing from friends... save some money lah...

Haiz... Haze...

the haze is very bad this morning...

and i am attending the Starlight Cinema with Vincent this evening at the Padang to watch X-Men II and III... like that how?? cannot pray for rain too, else the ground will be wet... haiz...

haze haze go away...

Mooncakes...

went to Kelvin's gathering of the Adlus people... his place in Holland Village was cosy and nice... the furniture was way too cool... and the lights in his master bedroom was gorgeous... didn't like the sliding glass door leading to the kitchen though... damn leh cheh lor...

finally decided to try the snow skin mooncakes from Raffles Hotel... they were yummy!!

came home at around 1:45am... mum came out of her room as i was opening the door...

she told me that i won ToTo... 4 + 1... said the winnings should be around $200+... i went online to Singapore Pools website to check... total winnings for my System 7 Quick Pick for 4 + 1 is about 6 times what mum has said... yoohoo... but i decided to split the winnings with mum, since she's the one who bought the winning ticket for me... i am a sucker for filial piety... what to do?? hahahaha...

i love Chang Er... muacks...

Novena Cali...

went to check out the Novena Cali with Chris... nice place... small and cosy (for now at least)... and it was very empty for a Friday night and compared to the other clubs... not sure how long this will last though...

of course there are a few problems with the club... gotta walk quite a distance from the MRT... and the lift lobby is hidden in some ulu corner... the shower area is pathetically small...

but probably i will be there more often on weekday nights for classes... since it's so bloody empty!!

Heart Burn...

went to see the doctor yesterday late afternoon, after all my meetings...

diagnosis: possible indigestion leading to heart burn... tummy active, producing gas... was given medication to control the abdominal cramps and the activities in the tummy...

to everyone, i should be fine... except for the "no oily food and no alcohol" restriction... bummer!!

6 October 2006

Chest/Tummy Pain Pain...

been getting this chest / tummy pain since Tuesday... and it can be quite acute at times... will monitor the condition before deciding on whether to go see doctor later in the evening...

Haagen Dazs Mooncakes...

colleagues bought haagen dazs mooncakes yesterday... nothing great... it's just like eating ice-cream... NEXT...

5 October 2006

The End...

finally yesterday was the last Thai lesson... didn't learn much for many reasons... but mainly because of my lack of commitment to master the language...

a few of them are continuing with the intermediate stage... i have had enough...

i will be free on Wednesdays from now on... anybody wanna date me??

4 October 2006

I Am Dying...

from moon cake overdose!!

there are so many different types from various sources... complimentary ones from vendors, lawyers, etc... took bits and pieces here and there... pork floss one lah... Shangri-La one lah... combined to one full moon cake yesterday afternoon... now my tummy still feels bloated...

today still got Tung Lok one to try... argh...

3 October 2006

Apologies...

we are not allowed to talk about racial discrimination...
not even at the Speaker's Corner...
but there you are...
criticising about other countries' handling of their racial issues...
in the end, provoked them...

and now you have to apologise for it...
why like that??
thought you should know better??
*shake head*

Mooncake Or Mid-Autumn?

a conversation with someone on MSN:

J: mooncake special or mid-autumm festival special ! WA !
Me: does it matter?? it's $5million...
Me: dat's all i care... hahahaha...
J: mooncake sounds weird la
Me: but who cares? it's the money lor...
Me: they can even call it Chang Er Draw... hahahaha...

FOW Goodies...

went to the annual FOW exhibition at Raffles City Convention Centre during lunch... boring stuff... but managed to pick up the following goodies... will go again tomorrow to see if there are any new goodies... hahahaha...

Little Miss Sunshine... Do Not Miss It...

what is a family with divorced parents, a drug-addict grandfather, a suicidal homosexual uncle, a "i-want-to-fly-an-aeroplane-but-please-leave-me-alone-cos-i-do-not-want-to-talk-to-you" son and a cute little daughter who simply wants to grow up to become Miss California? DYSFUNCTIONAL...

what is a dysfunctional family going on a road trip? SURPRISES, SURPRISES AND MORE SURPRISES...

I-S magazine gave it five stars out of five... i also say the same thing... this movie is nothing but FUN, FUN, FUN...

i particularly enjoyed the scripting... witty dialogues that bring a smile to your face... and you'd even burst out laughing... the part about eating ice-cream was simply hilarious... the ending was unexpected...

like i told Titus who organised the movie outing, i'm gonna eat my ice-cream and be Mr Hougang... which i sort of did after the movie cos we ended up in Vilage for my ultra sinful waffles with caramel banana topped with lotsa sugar... yummy!!
