Weekend Passes So Quickly...

Friday night was spent watching Madonna's Confessions Tour at a friend's place...
breakfast at Jalan Kayu roti prata on Saturday morning...
then it was home to rest for me...
fortunately, the open mobilisation was not for me...

dinner in the evening at East Coast food centre...
a mixture of see hum, gong gong (whatever that is), prawn noodles, BBQ tau pok and BBQ chicken wings...
simple fare yet delicious...

Sunday morning was breakfast with my parents...
it has been a while since i last had breakfast with them...
mum specifically requested for me to join them today...
well i do have my duties as a filial son to fulfill...

planning a short getaway from 19 July to 22 July, before i commence work in my new office on 23 July 2008...
the almanac says that 21 and 22 July are not-so-good days for Rats...
think this time i would go for a relaxing trip to Bintan or somewhere nearby...

SE k770i...

met Kerry for dinner at Bugis Junction...
before that accompanied him to the SingTel shop...
he signed up for the mobile and broadband...
some promotions going on...
i have been eyeing the SE k770i for a long time now...
since his new subscription comes with a free phone...
asked him to get it for me...
and i paid him S$200 for it...
win-win situation for both of us...

21 June 2008

1134...

1134 came up as one of the starter prizes on Saturday...
i could not remember if i bought it...
mum confirmed that i did...
well, S$250 in the pockets...

1134 was the number i got from the Loyang Tua Pek Kong temple during Chinese New Year...
when i was there to pray to the "tai sui"...
time to go back there to return the good fortune...

I Quit!!

after three weeks, finally signed the letter of offer during lunch time...
standard terms and conditions...
50% increase in basic pay, 21 days leave, medical cover, etc...

after 4 years and 8 months with the present company...
it is human to have mixed feelings...
i am leaving not because of the increase in pay...
but it is simply because i cannot stand my boss...
that makes me part of the statistics of #1 reason why people leave their companies...
will serve out my one month notice with pride and responsibility...

19 June is Gerard's birthday...
it is also an ex-colleague's mother's birthday...
i am sure it is a good day...

PC Show 2008...

visited the PC Show during lunch on Thursday when it opened...
was awed by the ultra mobile PC (UMPC) from Kohjinsha and Asus...
Kohjinsha has better configurations but price-wise is doubled Asus...

after facial this afternoon, popped by PC Show to take a look...
it was pure madness at 6pm...
super crowded... super messy...
prices were slashed for some of the items...
and people were dragging their printers all over the place...
decided against buying the UMPC cos my Acer notebook is still serving me well...

bought a 1 GB ipod shuffle as a gift that costs S$78...
and it comes with a free adaptor worth S$30...
the thing about all these IT shows that i have learnt over the years...
prices are the same as in the shops...
however, it is always the freebies that attract people to part with their money...

Father's Day Dinner @ East Ocean...

booked the table for 8 about a month ago...
and still we were not successful in getting a room...
my second time to East Ocean...
besides the strawberry pork, i have not the slightest idea what to order...
took the easy option of a set menu for 8...
big mistake...
cos the food from the set menu was nothing to brag about...
the dessert was surprisingly good though...
especially the yam paste...
overall it was still a good dinner...
and i am blessed that my whole family is there...

aunt thanked me for the money i gave her from my bonus...
it is my responsibility to take care of her now that she is not working...
when we were young, she would also give us pocket money to spend...
something that i remember til this day...

had coffee with friends at Spinelli Heeren...
bought The Bone Collector DVD from HMV...
and used my UOB 10 SMART$ to redeem for a free Dreamgirls DVD...

Negativity...

had prawn noodles for breakfast at East Coast Road...
my second time here in a week...
last Sunday was here after the PAssion Run...

Sonny ordered the pig tail soup and some ngoh hiang (with the pink coloured pork)...
i commented that i am a visual person and tend to take things for what they look...
which is why i have never tasted the pig tail and the pink pork...
Sonny said that his grandparents taught him positive thinking...
if we see things negatively, then the battle is lost even before fighting it...
we have to think that the food is nice regardless of how they look...
then at least we will give it a try and taste it for ourselves...
i did had a piece of the pig tail and the pink pork...
and i did not like them... lolz...

but Sonny did have a point there...
food for thought...
all pun intended...

we stopped by the famous confectionery that sells cream puffs...
they were simply delicious...
bought some for my family...

reached home, showered and hit the sack immediately...
Father's Day dinner later tonight...

13 June 2008

Kungfu Panda...

had to brave through the 3-hour backroom meeting...
ended at 8+pm...
chatted with Chee Boon who was still in the office on his last day with the company...

took the MRT to Pasir Ris to meet a friend...
had late dinner at the HK cafe in Downtown East...
my first time to Downtown East and was impressed by the sheer size of it...

watched Kungfu Panda...
though it was a funny movie, yet i fell asleep halfway through the movie...
i was too tired after a long day...

today is Friday the 13th...
luckily nothing bad happened...

10 June 2008

Farrer Park...

met Kerry for dinner @ TCC The Atrium @ Orchard...
the food was the usual...
and they do not serve Coke Zero!!
recommended them to bring in Coke Zero in my comments to them...
similarly during lunch this afternoon @ Shokudo Citylink...
told the waitress to inform their management to bring in Coke Zero, which she did...

after dinner, i visited Kerry's newly rented-place R66 @ Rangoon Road...
it was bigger than his previous studio apartment in Mountbatten...
simple but nice...
only thing is the poor cat was locked out in the balcony...
Kerry didn't want it to come in just in case it spoils the furniture...
the rain poured down at around 9:45pm...
it was so heavy, i was stuck at his place until around 11pm...
and Kerry had no choice but to bring the cat in...
i am looking forward to having my own place by the end of the year or 2009...

PAssion Run 2008...

this is the second year Joseph and i did the PAssion run...
woke up at 4:30am so that i could meet him at the ECP car park by 5:30am...
was still late...
completed the 15km run in a decent timing of 1 hour 45 minutes...
not my personal best...
but considering the amount of training i had, it was an achievement...
nice to see Yee Lee during the run...
it was her first time running 15km...
glad to know that she enjoyed it...
hopefully she will continue her passion for running...

was sleeping the whole afternoon...

the next run will be the Singapore Bay Run or Army Half Marathon or Sheares Bridge Run in August...
setting a personal timing of 2 hours...
time to start training soon...

Joint Birthday Celebrations: Thyetus & Shaun...

it was a rainy day...
since the morning when i drove mum to the market...
she spent S$150 on 7 tops, one bag and a pair of shoes at the shop in AMK...
as usual i was her fashion consultant...
advising her on the choice of colours and designs...
hahahaha...

the afternoon was spent catching up on my reading and sleeping...
while mum was busy making the dumplings...
a total of 80 pieces...
brought 10 pieces for the ugly dolls when i meet them later for dinner...

celebrated Thyetus' belated 33rd and Shaun's early 41st birthday at Wild Rocket...
the food was nice...
ambience was good until the group of 30 teenagers arrived at past 8pm...
interesting that the kids were dressed like adults while we were dressed like youngsters...
service at Wild Rocket was lacking...
although they have a considerable number of staff members...
wanted to have the dumplings for dessert...
but we were all so full after eating the birthday cake...
eventually they each had to bring back two dumplings...

after dinner, we adjourned to the neighbour Wild Oats for drinks...
nice alfresco area...
unfortunately we were seated right underneath the speaker...
had a difficult time hearing what the rest was saying...

here's wishing the birthday boys:
stay young forever...

6 June 2008

Modesto's Dinner...

was at Borders while waiting for my ex-colleagues for dinner...
bought another three books...
tsk tsk tsk tsk...

dinner was my treat after receiving my bonus...
and it was time for Yee Lee and i to load up on our carbo in preparation for the run on Sunday...
the food at Modesto's was superb...
we had the calamari, smoked ham with rock melon, ravioli, black ink spaghetti and one other dish...
the apple pie and tiramisu was delicious too...
and of course the highlight of the day has to be the dessert wine...
although it has only 6.5% alcohol content, we were all relaxed by it...
and had a fun time chatting and laughing...
although the decor of the place was very atas-kate (high class)...
the price was reasonable...

3 June 2008

Lexotan + Ativan...

doctor prescirbed the above two drugs for me to help in my insomnia...
took the Lexotan last night and went to bed... slept quite well...
took the Ativan in the morning... bad decision...
now i am feeling like i am floating in the air...
and a little groggy...
hope the day passes by quickly...
will take both the Lexotan and Ativan at night from now on...

meeting Brian tonight to collect my SATC TV series... all 6 of them...
whoever wants to borrow, please take a queue number...

2 June 2008

A Good Run...

came home at about 8:30pm...
still went for the run...
completed 8.2km in 56 minutes...
way beyond my personal best...
but considering i have not run in months...
it is still a good timing...
will be doing 10km on Thursday...
hopefully can complete within an hour...
time to get my health back!!

Auld Lang Syne...

downloaded the soundtrack to Sex & The City...
fell in love with Mairi Campbell And Dave Francis's version of Auld Lang Syne...
the scene from the movie flashed through my mind...
Carrie rushing out of her apartment to meet Miranda...
when it was snowing outside...
how more sweeter could it get??
so heart warming...
so peaceful...
so friends forever...

seems like i cannot get over the movie...
and the TV series...

Run Baby Run...

finally decided to go for a run this evening...
in preparation for this Sunday's 15km PAssion Run...
will be doing at least 8km...
and another 10km on Thursday...
hopefully i will be able to finish the 15km within 1.5 hours...
