Superstitious?!

Came back from HK on 13 March 2005. Maybe I should have picked a better date cos 13 is unlucky. Went back to the office on 14 March 2005 (Monday). Should have picked an even better date cos 14 means “sure die” in Cantonese. Hahahaha… Trust the Mahjong-playing Dave to be so pang tang (superstitious)…

Well, indeed it was bad luck and unfortunate events happened… So many things happened in the office while we were away in HK…

The biggest has to be the fact dat boss is “taking time off from work”… What does dat mean leh? I live it to your own imagination and interpretation…

Life goes on… no matter what… Things will work themselves out eventually…

Stay positive…

HK Trip – Day 17 (Friday 11 Mar)

One day more… Another day another mystery… (ala Les Miserables) Dunno what to feel or expect today…

Happy and relief: because no more stress from work… cut the testing yesterday… unfinished business… cannot help it… anyway, should have enough points for the report… hahahahaha… of course the stress will build up again when we are back in SG to do the reporting…

Sad: cos still haven’t had enough of HK… not enough time to visit more remote places… gotta say goodbyes to my HK frens…

HK Trip – Day 16 (Thursday 10 Mar)

2nd last working day for us in HK… The weather is getting better, averaging around 20+ degrees Celsius… Can walk on the streets without any windbreaker or sweater!! Hahahaha…

Nothing much was happening in the office as the checking continued…

Lunch with the staff from various Departments (Compliance, Accounts, HR, Proprietary Trading, Foreign Shares, Back Office and the GM) at a Chinese restaurant… very nice food… All of us were so full after that… A revelation today was that that Emily is a Singaporean!! We were discussing about my Shenzhen trip and that I wasn’t required to have a VISA. Apparently she had to have VISA. What a joke!

Over lunch they also mentioned something about Stanley and Ken… Sounds like some homo stuff is going on… Hahahaha… Farnie sia… Didn’t know HK people are so open-minded… But in the office?? Salah lor…

==========

After lunch, Sandra came with another shocker: Credit people would like to have lunch with us tomorrow… Suddenly we became so popular… Or maybe they’re trying to bribe us with the lunches?? Hmmm…

The afternoon, announcement came that Tung Chee Hwa has resigned as the Chief Executive of HK SAR, citing bad health as the reason. News of his resignation have been floating around for the whole week oredi. Today's announcement was simply to make it official. From my "research" with the HK people I know, all of them are glad that Tung has resigned. Apparently he had not been a good Chief Executive, with most people viewing him as a puppet to the Chinese government.

==========

After work, we went to collect our laundry for the last time in HK… Forgot to say goodbye to the shop owner and forgot to take a picture of the shop too… Sigh…

Oh ya… Willy had dinner with his grandpa and uncle (+ cousins) tonite…

==========

I went to Women’s Street for some last minute shopping… Mum wanted LV bags… Met Ken (not the one in the HK office; also not the one in the SG office) for dinner before heading to do some shopping… Told him about the LV bags and he brought me to a stall that he usually brings his SG and MY friends… Bought 2 gorgeous LV bags for HKD630… Quite okay lah… But better don’t tell mum about the price cos she only wanted something that’s S$30 or less… Hahahaha...

After shopping we went for dessert… Some interesting Japanese looking stuff… Posted some pics… Do check them out…

Ken insisted on sending me back to the hotel… We took the bus… Very fast (partly due to the fact that it was already 11:45pm)…

Came back past midnite… Willy and I started packing our luggage… Managed to squeeze in everything, with some allowance for the shoes, toiletries, etc… Chatted for a while before dozing off into dreamland at around 3am!!

9 March 2005

HK Trip – Day 15 (Wednesday 9 Mar)

Another crazy day of testing / checking. The last few laps to go. Told the rest we’re gonna cut by tomorrow. Friday is gonna be more doing administrative matters such as returning documents, de-brief with the liaison officers, meeting with the MD and to say goodbyes to the people and maybe some photo-taking. Hehe…

Talking about photos, uploaded a number of pictures of the office building, our room, the toilet and some other stuff. Just realised that I should have done that long ago. Ultra DUH…

In the evening, just when we thought there’s not gonna be any entertaining to do, Calvin came to drop the bomb that some of the staff would like to have dinner with us. Argh… But it’s ok lah… We suggested lunch instead of dinner cos the next 2 nights are gonna be hectic for us in terms of packing our luggage, collecting laundry, last minute shopping, etc.

We left the office at around 8pm. I went to Temple Street to meet up with my friends for shopping and dinner. Yeah!!

2 more working days to go... actually 1 only lah since Friday is gonna be a day of returning documents to departments, goodbyes, photo-taking, etc...
