Christina Aguilera...

was home most of the day...
wanted to hit the gym but the body was weak...

Christina Aguilera rocks!!
superb and strong vocals...
belting out song after song...
and her costumes were nice too!!
Enter The Circus was fun with the fire, trapeze and stilt walker...
Oh Mother and Hurt nearly moved me to tears...
Lady Marmalade raised some eyebrows with the men in drag...

we couldn't stop singing to Beautiful after the concert...
cos we are beautiful...

Stress...

couldn't sleep last night...
feeling so tired now...
will catch a short nap during lunch later...

i am watching a few concerts in the coming weeks and months...

August 3 - Corrinne May (tickets booked)
Mid-August - Gwen Stefani (tickets not on sale yet)
August 18 - Cai Qin (tickets booked)
September 1 - Aaron Kwok (tickets booked)

not forgetting Dim Sum Dollies on 7 July and Big Fool Lee on 4 August...

how more pampered can i get??

Down... Down... Down...

the market has been going down, down and down...
the STI 3,600 points were unsustainable...
let's hope it does not go below the 3,500 mark...
at this rate, will we still receive our allowance?
keeping my fingers crossed...

Tuesday Bodypump...

after Sunday's run, i am more determined to get my stamina and body back...
attended my first gym session in two months...
the usual Tuesday Bodypump class at California Raffles Place...
torturous...
even my best asset, the legs, were wobbly when pounded by the lunges...
bad... bad... bad...

on a happier note...
i have been listening to Rihanna's Umbrella remixes...
damn addictive...

2007 Arts Festival...

the 2007 Arts Festival finally came to a close on Saturday (for me)...
and it ended with a big bang over the last week...
five plays and one orchestra in two weeks...

this year marks the festival's 30th anniversary...
and the theatre productions were better than past years...

Cogito started the ball rolling for me...
imaging yourself in a world where you have both a physical clone and a cyber replica...
scary, isn't it??
and how will you react when you have to come face-to-face with your doubles...
trying to figure out what happened in the past...
the worst is when you have to "kill" your cyber replica...
what does that tell about you??

Wong Kar Wai Dreams by The Finger Players touched a chord in me...
partly because of the theme of loneliness...
something i am going through at the moment...
soul-searching... self-love...
an exploration of the loneliness in everyone...
even when one is in a close relationship with a friend and her husband...
and how do you react when your best friend's husband dreamt about you??
or when your best friend declared her love to you??
the set decoration was superb...
The Finger Players will definitely go a long way...

Play! A Video Game Symphony conducted by Arnie Roth was cute...
was lucky to get tickets for the additional show...
i couldn't imagine how grand some of the pieces could be if not for this production...
it's refreshing to listen to the live renditions of these beautiful pieces...
the Singapore Festival Orchestra's debut performance provided an alternative to the orchestra scene in Singapore...
i didn't know Super Mario Bros and Sonic The Hedgehog had 3-D versions...

Full Frontal was two directorial debuts for Peter Sau and Li Xie...
Peter's Machine explored the intricate relationship between two couples of strangers...
the joy, pain (literally), betrayal and hatred developed within a couple of days...
do we indulge ourselves in these games??
or do we learn to protect ourselves by avoiding them??
Li Xie's Little White Boat was an adaptation of Kuo Pao Kun's play of the same name staged back in the 1980s...
Li's approach was taking snippets of the play infused into recordings of interviews with Chinese students about their passion back in the 1960s and 1970s...
Kuo Pao Kun's famous for his social and political satires...
something which Li managed to adopt in the play...
do we have the same kind of passion to fight for our beliefs and our rights??
maybe not...

Mabou Mines DollHouse was a classic...
reflecting the imbalance between the sexes which till this day is still relevant...
how do we break away from the repressions one imposes on us??
gender, race, sexuality or religion??
the use of various theatrical styles made this production a rich one...
and the performers were nothing but entertaining, professional and absolutely fabulous...
the post-show talk by Lee Bruer offered insights into his use of the puppets and operatic finale...

Beijing Ren... what can i say?? a near-perfect production...
grand set on stage... flawless performances by the actors and actresses... thought-provoking themes...
maybe a little draggy at times... but the humour made up for it...
wealth does not last forever... neither does love nor kinship...
the selfless sacrifices one makes for the love of one's life...
contrasting that with the hatred one develops for the lack of love from the love of one's life...
the circumstance makes the person or the person makes the circumstance??

on the whole it has been an eventful and rewarding experience at this year's Festival...
and the papers revealed that attendance this year has been much better than last year...
looking forward to another wonderful year at the Arts Festival come 2008...

Sunday Run...

noticed that the fats were accumulating around my waist...
decided to go for my first run in more than two months...
since i was diagnosed with piles...
no stamina at all...
managed 6km in a miserable timing of 43 minutes...
gotta run more this couple of weeks...
before the Saucony Passion Run in two weeks' time...

Lunch @ Equinox...

had lunch with my colleague at Equinox...
semi-buffet lunch...
borrowed another colleague's Raffles Feed Card for the 50% off...
my first time lunching at Equinox...
not too impressed with the selections...
if not for the 50%, it would not have been worth it...
Jsen wanted to go there for lunch too...
think we'll have to go somewhere else now...
hehe...

nice view from the 70th floor...
can see the construction of the new IR...
the Esplanade in its full view...
and also the temporary stage and audience stand for the National Day Parade...

Shaun's 40th Birthday...

celebrated Shaun's 40th birthday at PS Cafe (off Dempsey Road)...
Kenneth booked it one month in advance...
was not impressed with the place, the service and the food...
only the long black coffee was good...
cannot understand how come the place was still so crowded after so long...

Kenneth bought a specially ordered cake from Shangri-La...
very expensive cake...
but the amount of marzipan used to create the swimming pool and the figurines were too much...
nearly the entire restaurant joined in the singing of the birthday song led by the cafe's staff...
we did our own version of "You've Got A Friend" after that...
thanx to Titus for printing the lyrics...

handed Shaun the double happiness bedsheet from Anthropology...
i would have bought one for myself if not for the steep price...

after dinner, we headed to Ministry Of Sound in Clarke Quay...
surprisingly, a virgin trip for all of them...
showed the gang around to the various room...

frankly, i was tired during the dinner...
was out since 12pm...
met Desmond for the Arts Festival performance: Play! A Video Game Symphony...
an Asian premiere...
conducted by Arnie Roth and performed by the Singapore Festival Orchestra...
cute to see the computer game flashing on the screens while the orchestra were playing the theme songs...
and i realised that both Super Mario Bros and Sonic The Hedgehog have 3D versions...

Dress Down Friday...

came into the office today in my blue short-sleeve shirt, beige pants and white Pedro shoes...
created a hooha cos it is the first time that i have dressed down on a Friday...
a female colleague of mine commented that the colours of my shirt, pants and shoes do not match...
but coming from someone whom i always complain about her poor dress sense and colour co-ordination, i am comforted...
*evil grin*

dress down Friday has been going for about a year now...
but i have always been in my striped long-sleeve shirt, pants and shoes...
reason being i do not have any short-sleeve shirts, polo t-shirts and shoes...
recently, after getting the performance bonus, i went on a shopping spree with Steve...
bought 2 polo t-shirts, two short-sleeve shirts and a pair of pants...
i still need to stock up on more pants and shoes...
but Pedro no sale leh...
hahahaha...
