Fever Continues...

fever was still at 37.6 degrees this morning...
went back to see the company doctor...
although the temperature has gone down since Monday...
she still decided to do a blood test, just to be certain...
results will be out on Thursday or Friday...
keeping my fingers crossed...
on medical leave today to rest...
cos the diarrhoea is causing me much discomfort...

latest update at 5pm...
doctor called to say that the blood test results were fine...
no sign of dengue or such...
what a relief...
temperature was at 37.3 degrees...

You Gave Me Fever...

was running a fever since Monday afternoon...
went to see the company doctor in the late afternoon...
temperature was 38.4 degrees...
despite that, attended the IIA Membership Night to collect my CIA certificate...
yes, i am officially a Certified Internal Auditor...
add that to my CPA and CISA...
wonder what to take next...

came home and head straight to bed...
this morning the temperature was 37.8 degrees...
and it went up to 37.9 degrees by late morning...
gonna rest more and hope the fever goes away soon...
hope it's nothing as serious as dengue or chikun virus...

Wedding Bells A Ringing...

attended Siang Leng and Xue Zheng's wedding lunch at Orchard Hotel...
was still feeling super lethargic after two late nights...
the wedding was beautiful...
and the lunch was nice...
especially my all-time favourite deep fried crispy chicken...
there were only 8 of us at our table which was prepared for 12 persons...

yet again for the third day in a row, i had bad service from the waiter and waitress in-charge of our table...
noticed that all the other waiters / waitresses would distribute the food individually to the guests...
but ours left it to ourselves...
they probably realised it later and started to serve us...
the funniest had to be the waiter who did not know how to serve noddles using two spoons...
she ended up scooping the noodles using ONE spoon...
me and Juliet could not help but sneer at her action...
of course their non-attentiveness made things worse...
decided not to complain to the manager...

took a trip to Borders hoping to find a book...
unfortunately left empty-handed...
Jsen's S$50 Borders gift card still unused after all...

went to aunt's place for dinner...
mum and elder brother were already there since the afternoon...
nice to see my aunts and uncles...
it's been a while since i last visited them at their home...
should do it more often...
family power...
;-p

Packed Saturday...

did my annual presentation to the company staff at Singapore Power in the morning...
was still recovering from the lack of sleep from the previous night...
had my facial at Bella Marina Square...
my usual therapist, Celest, is leaving to be a homemaker... how nice...
somehow, the new therapist, Wendy, was not as good...
tried their new Oxygen treatment...
the boss kept asking me to sign up for another package...
turned her down cos i am thinking of trying out facials specifically for men...

met Kerry for tea at Jack's Place...
promotion tea set @ S$4 for a cake and a drink...
very worth it...
it's such a pleasure to be sipping coffee in the company of my dearest friend...
chatting about life, about love, about everything...

met the rest of the gang at Lao Beijing Plaza Singapura for dinner...
the new waiter poured tea for everyone except me...
being such a bitch that i can be, complained about it...
dinner was like an 8- or 9-course one...
everyone was so full after that...
for the record, Jason, you did see the bill right...
i decided to pick up part of the tab as a treat to you guys for my bonus...
just find it strange to say it out openly in front of Kien and Jon...

27 Dresses was a good romantic comedy...

had coffee at TCC with Kerry before calling it a night...
for the first time, i experience bad service at TCC...
something that has never happened before...
maybe the waiter was new...
nevertheless... no more TCC Plaza Singapura too...

Jerry's BBQ & Grill + Wine Affaire...

had a double celebrations at Jerry's BBQ & Grill @ Club Street...
it was one colleague's farewell and another's birthday...
Jerry's service sucks BIG TIME...
both the manager and the waiter were so FUCKING stuck up...
as if we owe them the world for dining there...
although the food was good, i will never return again...

after that most of us continued to Wine Affaire @ Tras Street for drinks...
some of us tried their famous hibiscus champagne while i had the champagne with pear extracts...
very friendly owner and service staff...
trying so hard to explain to us the various champagne and wine they carry...
one even taught us how to play the board game available...
eventually we settled for Taboo...
had so much fun sipping champagne and wine while guessing the words...
left the place at around midnight...
will definitely return for more wine and chill-out...

Another One Bites The Dust...

another colleague from the other Department tendered her resignation...
she is the most senior in the Department...
she is the 8th or 9th casualty since the Director came in...
and we are expecting more to come...
she is the most gentle and patient one among them, yet she cannot stand the Director...
i finally believe the saying that most of the time, people quit our bosses (not the money or the job)...

but what do you do if you are the boss whom people are quitting from??
time for reflection??

Bowling 168...

had our usual bowling Thursday at the Civil Service Club...
after three games, managed an average of 168...
my most consistent session ever...
hurray!!

Damages...

i was hooked on the TV series starring Glenn Close...
the plot was superbly confusing and intriguing...
everybody is connected to everybody else...
Glenn Close was marvellous as a scheming owner of a law firm...
which was involved in a fraud case involving a billionaire and his 5,000 employees...

had sort of a marathon over the weekend to complete 11 episodes...
was already 1am...
decided to keep the last two episodes to Monday night...

Glenn Close won the recent Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama...

"...trust no one..."
- Patricia Hewes (Glenn Close character)

Pulau Ubin Sunday...

after a couple of weeks of planning, the trip finally happened...
met Shaun, James and Peter (James' colleague) at Changi Village for breakfast...
took the ferry to Pulau Ubin...
the ferry terminal now has arrival and departure halls...
ferry rides are charged at S$2 each way...

there were a lot of people by the time we reached Pulau Ubin at around 10:30am...
rented our bicycles for S$5 for the day (until 6pm)...
cycled to the North of the island before checking out the West...
by then it was lunch time and we went back to the main entrance to the island for lunch...
we were seated outside the restaurant...
and witnessed two dogs copulating right in front of our eyes...

cycled to Chek Jawa after lunch...
did a tour of Chek Jawa without seeing much...
lots of seaweed, crabs and a few mud skippers...
maybe we could have seen more things if we had paid for the guided tour...
took the rougher route back to the main entrance...
returned our bikes and took the ferry back to the mainland...

had my favourite nasi lemak for dinner at the Changi Village food centre...
walked around the beach before sharing a cab home with Shaun...

it has been a wonderful Sunday...
the sun was bright and sunny...
the place was serene and some places were so untouched...
the beauty of nature...
Shaun and i were totally burnt...
but no complaints cos it was a good outing...
i shall return to explore more of the island soon...

next trip: MacRitchie Tree Top Walk in March 2008...

19 January 2008

Wedding Dinner...

attended my cousin's wedding dinner...
met up with my relatives...
it is always nice to catch up with them...
while i was going around hurrying my married cousins to have babies...
they were also hurrying me to get married...
lolz...
will be seeing them again during the Lunar New Year...

15 January 2008

Belated Christmas Dinner...

met up with Patrick for a belated Christmas dinner...
the venue was changed from Waraku Katong to Waraku Central to LuLu Raffles City and finally to Kuriya Raffles City...
the food was good, although i am not very used to eating cold noodles...
the eel was delicious...
tried their sake too... just a bit, in case i get drunk...

after that headed to Patrick's place to try out Wii...
played bowling and tennis... so tiring...
left at around 10:45pm cos the gang were busy playing mahjong (real tiles)...
kinda boring to Wii alone...

13 January 2008

Brain-Stormed...

was at the company's brainstorming retreat over the weekend held at the Orchid Country Club...
totally brain dead after that...
and i volunteered to take minutes for the two-day event...
hahahaha...

wanted to shed some kilos...
put on quite a bit during the birthday month of November and festive month of December...
even one of my Directors commented that he has never seen me so "fat" before...
missed the Bodypump class and did a 10km run on the threadmill...
great feeling...
met Roslan in the changing room...
updated each other on the latest...

i so want to lose 5kg by mid-February 2008!!
will eat less CNY goodies this year!!

6 January 2008

Lethargic Sunday...

supposed to go for my facial and meet Kerry for dinner...
last minute decided to cancel both events...
somehow my body is feeling so lethargic...
by 5pm, decided to go for a run...
hopefully some exercise will bring my energy back...
ran 10km...
feeling was shiok...

5 January 2008

Ikea...

met up with Guhan, Eugene and Desmond in Bugis to pass them the Beauty World tickets...
i couldn't attend now because of the company retreat...
sold the ticket at half price to Guhan's UK friend...

met James and Shaun at Ikea for shopping...
long time not been to Ikea...
the place still looked the same...
bought a packet of 100 tealight candles for S$4...
gotta pay for the plastic bags now...
5 cents for small ones and 10 cents for big ones...
unbelievable...
James said that only in Singapore that they could do such things...
not gonna happen in KL...

walked across to Anchorpoint to check out what's available for dinner...
went to Zhou's Kitchen... it's part of the Tung Lok group wor...
ordered a set dinner...
the food was good...
and service was quite good...

2 January 2008

Annual KL Pilgrimage...

my trip to KL has become an annual pilgrimage...
very much similar to the Muslims heading for their Mecca... hahahaha...
this year took the coach from NiCE...
indeed very nice...
got my own TV screen, very much like on the plane...
unfortunately, the movies they played were simply sucky...
had my ipod nano playing Michael Buble throughout the journey...

William picked me up at the KTM railway station where the coach stopped...
headed straight for roti canai (aka roti prata in Singapore lingo)...
then it was off to his place for a rest...
surprised him with the Anthropology double happiness burner...

woke up at around 10am and off we went for our shopping escapade...
brunch at one HK cafe in Bangsar Village...
checked out Bangsar Village II before heading to One Utama...
did some shopping before having tea at Ms Read cafe...
more shopping back at Bangsar Village II...
checked into the hotel at close to 9pm...
showered and had Thai dinner...
had a jug of beer at the pub next door...

Genting day trip was cancelled because William overslept...
breakfast at Kim Gary...
bought a pre-paid card too... roaming service is way too expensive...
i am not going to pay S$0.60 for an SMS...
was shopping in Sungei Wang, Lot 10, Pavillion...
Pavillion is one of the two new malls opened recently...
very mega indeed... and super spacious...
how i wish our Vivocity is like it...
didn't buy much stuff though...
was dead tired by the time i walked the entire Pavillion...

Monday morning met Kenny at Mid-valley mega mall...
got the World Of Feng Shui (WOFS) calendar Kenneth wanted...
and bought two polo T-shirts from WOFS...
went to the other new mall, Gardens, next to Mid-Valley...
there's a Robinsons in it...
a number of new eateries at the basement...
had lunch at Din Tai Fung... not that cheap by KL standard...
food was better than the Singapore branches...
William rested in the hotel while Kenny and i continued shopping in Bukit Bintang Plaza...
bought many more T-shirts from the shop Kenny brought me to the last time...
somehow i couldn't find it on my own yesterday...
Johnny came to pick Kenny up while i headed back to the hotel for a quick nap...
managed to persuade William to have dinner at Jalan Alor...
ordered fruit rojak, BBQ chicken wings, oyster omelette and satay...
had my usual green apple juice...
cheap and good...
went back to the hotel for some red wine while watching the activities downstairs...
left for the countdown in Bukit Bintang...
a short drizzle came just before midnight...
countdown at Pavillion... met Stanley and friends...
the fireworks at KLCC was visible from where we were...
a total of 8 minutes of spectacular display...
had wan ton noodle for supper in Jalan Alor again...
the pork was sweet...

Johnny and Kenny came to pick me up at the hotel...
lunch was at some Malay-dominated area...
chicken rice at the food court...
a memorable place for Johnny cos he used to eat there when he was auditing his client in that area...
on the way saw a funeral in progress...
did a quick walkabout in Sogo department store...
we drove to Chinatown...
did a quick tour of the place...
the Chinese New Year decorations were already on sale...
Johnny drove us to a restaurant near his place for dinner...
delicious and cheap...
had curry fish, steamed la la, mixed seafood and vegetables...
William met us after that for dessert (which was red bean soup) at another restaurant in Sungei Wang...
bided my goodbyes to Johnny and Kenny...
continued eating with William at a cafe...
left the place around 10:30pm and William drove me back to the hotel...
said our goodbyes and thanked him for all the arrangements...
packed my luggage...
managed to squeeze everything into it...
including my Yoshi soft toy...

woke up at 10am...
breakfast at Kim Gary Sungei Wang...
more shopping at Romp...
bought four T-shirts and a bag...
had difficulty stuffing them into the luggage...
no choice had to put Yoshi in my backpack instead...
hahahaha...

took a cab to the KTM old railway station for the coach back to Singapore...
taxi driver told me there were altogether 8 countdowns on New Year's Eve...
didn't know KL is so happening...
left KL at 3pm sharp...
and reached home at 8:30pm...
glad to be home...
blessed to have great friends like William, Kenny and Johnny...
and more blessed to be able to visit KL at least once a year...

Happy New Year everyone!!
May 2008 be a year of good health, abundant opportunities and great friendships!!
