26 December 2005

It's the Season of Christmas - 26 December 2005 (Monday-cum-Boxing Day)

woke up at 3pm... shocking sia... close to 12 hours of sleep... what a journey...

washed up, sat down for breakfast, lunch, tea... 3-in-1... hahahaha...

returned Steve's missed calls... he wanted to ask me for mahjong... next time, dude...

**********

something was not right with R... SMSed and called him... no replies... worrying sia...

8:45pm... R finally called... said he took some sleeping pills last night and conked out... told him to be more careful... didn't want anything to happen to him... and most important of all, i don't wanna lose a friend...

he must still be very bothered by all the love matters that were bothering him a couple of days ago... please please please get out of it soon...

**********

11:45pm... time to sleep again... took my 5htp...

*yawn yawn*

25 December 2005

It's the Season of Christmas - 25 December 2005 (Sunday)

it's Christmas Day... Merry Christmas, world...

woke up at 12pm... half the day was gone... two gatherings for the evening...

**********

first stop was Lakeside... Parc Vista condominium... David's abode... beautiful place... well-furnished... guests started streaming in from 7pm... John, Marvin and Zac were busy with the barbeque... Parry and some others were busy with the steamboat... noticed that this group has this "fetish" about steamboat... they did the same at Jeff's birthday celebration-cum-BBQ at East Coast a few months back...

was pretty quiet at the gathering cos i only knew a few of them... and i was possessed with the usual shyness in me... couldn't open myself up to talk to them... but people, i was not being snobbish or what... it's just me!!!!! thanx to John for bringing me the food everytime he had finished BBQ something... satay, chicken, etc...

received an SMS from R... he wasn't feeling right... hope he's okay... told him to contact me if there's any emergency... i was surprised that he would behave like this for he was the one who told me about how silly the last time i did something stupid... told him there were still people around him who cared... prayed that he'll get out of this soon...

left the party at 10:30pm... took a cab to Pat's place, as promised...

**********

the cab fare from Lakeside to Pasir Ris came up to $20!!!!! looks like Singapore wasn't that fucking small afterall... hahahaha...

glad to meet Ken, Melvin, Andrew and Patrick... the rest of them i've never met... hehe... ate some of the catered food... took a picture under the Christmas tree with Ken before starting our round of mahjong...

played two rounds... first round was okay cos they ran out of ciggies... second round was a little difficult cos my eyes were feeling the pain of the ciggie smoke... reminded me of going to the clubs... hahahaha...

by the time we ended the second round, it was around 2+am... Melvin drove me and Andrew home... thanx mate!!

**********

showered and hit the sack immediately... totally exhausted... 3 consecutive late nights... time to recuperate...

24 December 2005

It's the Season of Christmas - 24 December 2005 (Saturday)

it was pouring at around 3pm...

waited until the rain had subsided before leaving the house for the annual Christmas gathering with my secondary school pals...

so nice to meet the gang again... Steve, Tianwei, Teck Cheng, Youxiang, Jiale, Eric, William and Daniel... some of them bought food and we decided to order pizza from Pizza Hut to supplement the lack of staples... hehe...

after dinner it was a round of blackjack... i decided to sit out the game... then some of us went for mahjong, while the others were watching Madonna's documentary on her Re-Invention Tour...

we had our logcake at around 11pm... cos some of them had to leave before midnight... and hence no count down to Christmas...

it was another round of mahjong before we all said our goodbyes...

thanx to all for yet another year of Christmas...

**********

reached home at around 4am... thanx to Teck Cheng for giving me a lift...

showered and it was off to dreamland...

23 December 2005

It's the Season of Christmas - 23 December 2005 (Friday)

Christmas celebration started earlier this year cos the eve was on a Saturday (a non-working day), so company celebrations was held on Friday instead...

went into the office much earlier as usual to do my annual Santa Claus thingy: place the gifts and the cards (with personal messages for each) on their desks before they turned up in the office... caught the new people by surprise... but i guessed they were all pleasant ones...

had our departmental gift exchange after lunch... finally got my Madonna's Confessions on A Dance Floor... the normal version... received an SMS from a friend later in the evening to say that the limited edition was out... and that it was very limited indeed... i will have to make sure i get my hands on a copy soon before it's run out...

left the office at 6:30pm SHARP... reached home and was still able to see sunlight... Mike from the US commented that i worked too hard... i thought so too... time to do something about it... was joking about whether there's any available jobs in the US for me... Mike asked me to send him my resume and he'll see what he could do about it... how nice it would be to be working in the US, even if it's for a short stint...

The Devil... On Christmas Day...

Which Tarot Card Are You?

You are the Devil card. The Devil is based on the figure Pan, Lord of the Dance. The earthy physicality of the devil breeds lust. The devil's call to return to primal instincts often creates conflict in a society in which many of these instincts must be kept under control. Challenges posed by our physical bodies can be overcome by strength in the mental, emotional, and spiritual realms. Pan is also a symbol of enjoyment and rules our material creativity. The devil knows physical pleasure and how to manipulate the physical world. Material creativity finds its output in such things as dance, pottery, gardening, and sex. The self-actualized person is able to accept the sensuality and usefulness of the devil's gifts while remaining in control of any darker urges. Back In Singapore...

went into the office to clear some final review points and to say our goodbyes...

**********

lunch with two of the Malaysian staff... they insisted on buying us lunch, although we were on a tight schedule to check out of the hotel...

**********

original plan was to take the 5:00pm SQ shuttle flight back to Singapore... the cab was fast enough to bring us to the airport by 3:10pm... the counter guy said that we could still catch the 3:40pm flight... rushed rushed... checked in our luggages... took the skytrain to the departure hall... took a leak... and boarded the plane at exactly 3:35pm... what a rush!!!!!

flight was okay cos there were kids on board... horror of all horrors... they were whining now and then... still bearable by my standard... hahahaha...

**********

cleared customs... went to the belt... cos no duty free for KL trips... else i would have bought the new Absolut Peach!!!!! dammit!!!!!

waited for our luggages... waited... and waited... kept seeing a same piece going round and round... but no sight of ours... waited... and waited...

GAME OVER...

our luggages missed the flight... went to report to the Malaysian Airline counter... abang said airline will deliver luggage to our house...

**********

reached home... mum was having mahjong with her kakis... cleared my snail mail... wrote this blog...

Goodbye KL, Hello Singapore...

19 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 8 (19 December 2005 Monday)

the week passed by so quickly... today was my second last day in KL... how time flies so quickly when one is having fun...

went into the office as usual... nothing much happened, besides the usual stuff... the morning was spent discussing about some paper with my colleague in Singapore via MSN... a paper that i am suppose to present at the retreat in January 2006...

after that there were discussions about gift exchange in the Department this Friday... time for more Christmas shopping then... what joy that will be...

**********

left the office at around 6:45pm... slight drizzle... headed back to the hotel to put down our heavy bags (cos we brought back the documents to pack into the luggage tonight)...

by the time we left the hotel for KLCC, the rain was heavy already... how quickly and sudden the weather gets here in KL during December...

dinner was with KC at The Little Penang Kafe... had the best laksa and prawn noodles so far... the nasi lemak was not as delicious though... insisted on having a cendol cos there's gula melaka in it... i have this soft spot for gula melaka, just like my soft spot for dragon motifs... and someone whom i used to be in love with... HA!!

after dinner it was time for dessert... we had to end the trip with Secret Recipe cakes... i had my chocolate marshmallow... and my cappuccino... after ordering, i went to Crabtree & Evelyn to get a Christmas gift for KC... it was in appreciation for his company for so many nights during my one-week stay in KL... it's been wonderful to catch up with him again...

SK picked up the tab this time around... cos he's not comfortable that KC paid for the two dinners we had: once in Madam Kwan's; another in Little Penang Kafe... hahahaha... just when we were discussing about his thriftiness this afternoon...

i left around 80 sen as tips after the dessert... SK was making such a big hooha out of it... sigh... told him when we were born into this world, we had nothing... and when the time comes for us to leave this world, we have nothing too... don't be too calculative... give and take... but well, e probably have very different upbringing... and hence, i shall not impose my way of thinking on him... i must say sometimes i'm too liberal about a lot of things...

after dessert, we bided KC goodbye and walked back to the hotel...

**********

luggage packing started immediately... surprisingly, in less than an hour, i was done!! looked like i didn't buy a lot of stuff this trip eh? hahahaha...

after that it was time to update my blog... it's my last night in KL for this trip... it has been an enjoyable one... just like all my past trips to KL... food, shopping, clubbing, Romp, Peter Hoe, Chinatown... and most important of all, FRIENDS...

time for bed...

**********

Goodnight Kuala Lumpur... I LOVE YOU...

18 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 7 (18 December 2005 Sunday)

woke up at 7:15am... told SK that i did not intend to visit the sky bridge any more... just not my cup of tea... he left while i continued with my sleep... woke up at around 10am... SK was back too... his comments about the sky bridge: not fantastic lah... nothing much to see... yet it was crowded...

i got up, showered and got ready for yet another day of shopping... SK went to the gym!!!!! i only did gym last year when i was in Bangkok for business... this trip there's not enough time for shopping already, where got time for gym?!?!

i was dilly-dallying in the hotel room when SK came back at around 12pm... we went out for lunch and off i went to KLCC to start my shopping...

first stop it was Kinokuniya... nothing much and yet i spent about an hour in it... bought a Chinese book (FYI, i may look, sound and behave like a potato, but i still read Chinese lor) about one of my favourite authors, San Mao (three strands of hair, literally)... she committed suicide back in 1991... shocked the Chinese literary world...

after that i simply "window-shopped" from the top floor all the way to the second floor... visited some nice shops: Ombak, Lotus Arts, etc... but prices too steep for me... skipped the second and first floors cos they were boutiques... i could never afford anything from them... so don't waste my time...

ground floor had Zara, PDI, etc... pure window-shopping for me...

at around 3pm, i took the LRT to Pasar Seni, where Central Market was... nice handicrafts... bought a couple of sarongs (or sarong pants)... wanted to wear something different for Chinese New Year 2006... hehe...

then i visited my all-time household shop, Peter Hoe... there's a small shop at the corner of the road, and a huge shop in a building 2 blocks away... visited both shops... spent RM158 at the smaller shop and RM187 at the bigger shop... completed my Christmas shopping for gift exchanges... bought something for Kerry's new place too... hehe...

after Peter Hoe, i had a quick dinner before walking "aimlessly" in Chinatown again... while i was walking in the narrow aisle, all of a sudden, all the make-shift stalls started moving... the owners started packing and the carts were being pushed away... what else but a raid had started... after less than a minute, it was noted to be a false alarm... the owners started putting their goods back for sale... what a sight that was...

i decided to sit down for dinner at this "old-time kopitiam"... ordered toast with kaya and butter, nissin noodles and a cup of iced coffee... very yummy... i also bought three packs of instant coffee from the kopitiam...

took the LRT back to the hotel... unpacked all my stuff... took out the extra hand-carry luggage bag i brought along... guess it's going to be another fun night of packing on Monday... hehe...

**********

after my shower, sat down to type the last three blog entries before heading to bed...

Goodnight Peter Hoe...

17 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 6 (17 December 2005 Saturday)

woke up at 7:15am... just like a normal weekday... cos SK and i were planning to visit the sky bridge of the Petronas twin towers... however, the sky was kind of cloudy and grey... after breakfast, we came back to the hotel room... eventually we decided to give up the idea of visiting the sky bridge...

i headed back to sleep... somehow the rhythm was broken (after having breakfast) and i had some intermittent sleep... SK went out for a movie at around 10am... i left the hotel at around 11am and took a cab to Bukit Bintang (BB)...

Berjaya Times Square was my first shopping stop... but i left the place without buying a single item... what a flop...

next was Sungei Wang Plaza... my all-time favourite shopping place in KL... cos they have a lot of shops selling "Ah Beng-type" t-shirts... my all-time favourite shop has to be Romp... not only they have very nice clothings, the sales people were simply gorgeous too... made the shopping experience a very pleasant one... spent a total of RM510 at the Romp shop... probably i should ask for some loyalty card... hahahaha...

Rave at Sungei Wang is another of my favourite shop... they have some very interesting T-shirts... got one with a penguin walking... and the words saying "hurry up... hurry up..." funny sia...

BB Plaza was the last and final stop before heading back to the hotel to shower and change for dinner... nearly bought some bedsheets from Metrojaya cos they were on sale... somehow the design very salah...

had a great time shopping... so much so that i forgot about lunch altogether... had a quick bite before taking a cab back to the hotel... while waiting for the cab, met Kien... he's coming down to Singapore for Christmas... he'll be staying with Michael... told him to contact me when he's there so that we can catch up...

**********

showered, said goodbye to SK and off i went to meet KC and William at KLCC... William was shopping for a tie for his brother-in-law...

dinner was at this roadside stall called "drunken cat" (literally)... very nice food... 5 dishes for the 3 of us and it was only RM50 (approximately S$23)... amazing prices...

after dinner, William had to go back to change before clubbing... KC and i went to Chinatown for shopping... Chinatown was packed... human traffic was crazy... we could hardly walk in the narrow lanes... after about 2 hours, i bought a LV lighter (fake one lah)... liked it cos it was cute...

KC and i decided to take a break with dessert... we had "gui ling gao"... bitter stuff... only tasted good after huge amount of syrup was added... we had a good chat... discussing about travelling and stuff... it's nice to be able to spend time with friends, instead of the usual clubbing where you could hardly talk to each other...

at around 10:30pm, i called William to tell him that clubbing was cancelled... one of my nostrils was blocked and i was feeling very tired... been a long day for me... luckily was understanding and fine with the cancellation...

KC accompanied me to the LRT station... it was called Pasar Seni... not too far from Central Market (where i will be tomorrow)... memorised the way so that i can navigate myself around tomorrow...

bided our goodbyes cos we were going in the opposite directions...

**********

reached the hotel at around 11:20pm... it was drizzling outside... luckily SK was back from watching his soccer match from the food court opposite the hotel... Man U won... or so he said... he's a Man U fan... hahahaha...

**********

showered, watched a bit of TV and slept...

Goodnight Romp...

16 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 5 (16 December 2005 Friday)

after work, SK and i went back to Kim Gary for dinner... this time i ordered too much food: my usual nissin soup noodles, chicken wings in cheese, toast with shredded coconut and peanut butter and my ice milk tea... SK had his pork chop set dinner (that came in two large pieces of pork chops)...

i bought some snacks and toiletries from Watsons... was contemplating if i should buy the disposable paper underwear cos my 3 boxers might not be enough to recycle for Monday and Tuesday since i did not bring additional disposable underwear... decided against the idea, at most "freeballing" on Tuesday then...

after dinner, went back to the hotel for a quick shower... William came to pick me up to head to Do-Me (Dome) cafe in Lot 10... KC, Kien and Kit were already there... before i could finish my coffee, William was suggesting to have his roti canai (our roti prata in Singapore) at the mamak stall nearby... we said our goodbyes and off we went... i had my usual teh halia... William had his first piece when KC came to join us... KC ordered his and William had his second piece... only to complain later that he shouldn't have ordered the second one... chey...

it was off to the club nearby after that...

heard this song that kept going "don't you...", "don't you..." with Eric and William singing along to it... but none of them could tell me the song title or the artist who sang it... duh!! that's the first time i've ever heard it anywhere... hahahaha... will go search for it when i'm back in SG...

at around 2:30am, we left... i took a cab back to the hotel...

woke SK up to open the door for me... that's the trouble with having only one key to the room... sucks!!

**********

showered and headed straight to bed...

Goodnight Universe...

15 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 4 (15 December 2005 Thursday)

after work it was back to Mid Valley cos yesterday i didn't get the chance to shop or look-see at all...

i took the LRT (with KC) to Universiti station... William came to pick us up from there...

when we reached Mid Valley, the same routine of finding a parking space happened... took us at least 15 minutes to find a slot... terrible...

by the time we got out of the car, it was already 8:30pm... headed straight to Ka Soh restaurant for dinner... another home-cooked style of restaurant... somehow the Christmas decoration spoiled the entire ambience... they just didn't match the Chinese decor of the place...

after dinner it was off to Mid Valley to shop... didn't really have much time to do that cos it was already around 9:30pm and the shops were closing...

we went to Secret Recipe for our dosage of cakes and coffee... and then it was back to hotel... to rest and welcome the weekend...

**********

Goodnight Mid Valley (and all the traffic jams)...

Ministry of Sound Pre-Opening Party

received an SMS invitation to the Ministry of Sound (MoS) pre-opening party to be held on 15 December 2005 9pm... admits 2...

BUT

i am now in KL... argh...

GGNBCCB...

14 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 3 (14 December 2005 Wednesday)

the same morning routine happened... same "ang moh" breakfast for me...

SK looked much better this morning... and his flu-like symptoms sort of miraculously diminished... left a little bit only...

**********

in office...

*censored due to sensitivity*

**********

lunch was at a food court in the AmBank building next door... i had Malay rice and dishes... i was given a plate of plain rice and i would pick and serve my own dishes... told the guy that the sambal chilli had run out... instead of replenishing it, he simply took a spoon and scooped whatever's left in the container for me... ultra "duh"...

had a good chat with Miss Chia during lunch... she was amazed that i've come up to KL and various parts of Malaysia for various activities:
1. 10km marathon run
2. clubbing
3. trekking
4. mountain climbing (Gunung Ledang being the tallest so far)
5. watching Cantonese movies

we also talked about casinos in Genting and Singapore... about movies... about places to visit in KL... about what is SK going to do over the weekend in KL if he's not into shopping and clubbing... about travelling overseas (she prefers sight-seeing while i prefer city life)... about the air tickets and tour packages prices (how steep they were in KL compared to SG)...

**********

left the office at 7pm... took the LRT from KLCC to Bangsar, where william picked me up to head to Mid Valley for King Kong... it's the worldwide opening for the movie... was quite rush because the movie was at 8pm... by the time we reached Mid Valley, the car park was very full... took us a while to find a lot... phew!!

personally, i didn't like the movie... it's like watching Jurassic Park (JP) with a large ape thrown in... the dinosaurs looked exactly like those in JP... with new large insects and other creatures... but the movie had good laughter here and there... some scenes did remind us of Lord Of The Rings... hahahaha...

by the time the movie ended at 11pm, my butt was aching...

william drove his room mate and i to this mamak place for supper... i ordered my teh halia (ginger tea) and my maggie mee goreng (fried maggi noodles)...

after that william sent me back to the hotel... bided our farewells and goodnights...

woke SK up to open the door for me... paiseh lah... showered and it was off to bed... time check: 1am...

GOODNIGHT KONG THE KING...

13 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 2 (13 December 2005 Tuesday)

woke up at 7:15am... when i was supposed to be up by 6:45am... hahahaha...

cleaned up, showered, poo-ed...

breakfast at hotel (provided)... great spread of food... had a good time... realised that i am very much a Westernised person... breakfast = toast with butter; scrambled egg; sausage; coffee; orange juice; croissant... while SK had more Asian stuff... hahahaha...

after breakfast it was back to the hotel room for more poo-ing...

the TV morning show was discussing about castration of rapists... realised that their England cannot make it... i was cringing the whole time...

**********

in office...

*censored due to sensitivity*

**********

after work, met KC for dinner at Madam Kwan's... ordered a lot of food... ended with dessert (with Gula Melaka)... sedap... SK was commenting that the food tasted like his mum's cooking... told him that was what it was supposed to be... we still couldn't figure out if there was really a person by the name of Madam Kwan...

after dinner and dessert, KC showed us the place to collect tickets to go up to the skybridge of KLCC... i'm not game for it lah... *yawn yawn*

then it was back to the hotel to rest... bided our goodbyes to KC... thanx for the dinner dude! Saturday's dinner on me then!!

**********

after showering, SK went straight to bed... he was not feeling well... started sneezing with flu-like symptoms... wish him recover soon...

goodnight world... from Malaysia... truly Asia... ;-)

Malaysian One Dollar Coin

just realised that the Malaysian One Dollar Coin is no longer legal tender... cannot use liao...

GNNBCCB... i still got some from the Genting casino...

12 December 2005

KL Business Trip Day 1 (12 December 2005 Monday)

mum came to wake me at 5:30am... *yawn yawn*

showered, had breakfast, called for a cab... bided mum goodbye with a big hug (as usual) and went to wait for the cab at the lift lobby... when i looked up, mum was still watching from the corridor... that's my mum for you... cab came and off to the airport we went...

there was a long queue of cabs leading to the departure hall... according to the driver, this is the normal morning traffic... i never knew that there were so many people travelling in and out of Singapore... amazing!!!

met SK at the SIA ticketing... bought our shuttle tickets to KL... checked in and immediately we went into the departure area... at the duty free shopping area, saw the latest release of the Absolut Vodka Peach!!!!! too bad we cannot buy duty-free liquor when we return from KL at the end of the week... if not i could add to my collection of Absolut Vodka (Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Raspberry, Blackcurrant, Vanilla and Plain)... next time perhaps...

on our way to the departure gate, we bumped into one of the Heads of Department... he's also on the same flight to KL with his family for their holidays... such coincidence...

once i got into my seat, i was "snoring away"... too tired... and also i wanted to not feel the plane taking off... got up in the middle of the flight for my orange juice... and before i knew it, we were touching down at KL International Airport...

at the customs, bumped into another Head of Department... he's on his way to the KL office for a meeting... how can there be two such coincidences in a day??? really amazing!!!

took a cab to the hotel... slight jam along the way partly due to the lunch hour and the East Asian Summit in KL from today until Wednesday...

checked in, showered, unpacked a little and left for lunch...

went to avenue K... wanted to do the newly opened food court... but decided to go for Kim Garry Beyond instead... great HK-style food... simply sedap...

after lunch, it was to the office...

**********

in office...

**********

at around 5pm, it started pouring... couldn't leave the office without getting totally drenched... stayed until 7:45pm... still drizzling but we needed to eat anyway...

went to KLCC to show my colleague around... it was his first time to KL wor... virgin leh... i mean to KL lah... not sure about *you know what*...

so many restaurants to choose from... and i decided that we should do Secret Recipe at avenue K...

after dinner, it was back to the hotel for a good rest...

*yawn yawn*

goodnight world...

Tribute To A Senior - Hui Cheng - 1973 to 2005

Sunday afternoon, while packing my room, received a call from Hui Cheng's sister, informing me that Hui Cheng had passed away... cause? suicide...

i couldn't believe my ears... totally saddened by the news... wanted to cry but controlled myself... didn't want to ask further... cos i didn't want to stress the sister any further... was told that the funeral will be on Monday... couldn't bring myself to attend...

i cried after putting down the phone...

told mum about it and she was equally saddened... mum used to see her every time she's here to visit either for insurance or Catholic matters...

**********

Hui Cheng was my senior in Anderson Junior College... we got to know each other when we were both involved in a CLDDS performance... became quite close for a while... before losing contact after graduation... subsequently she got in touch with me again, after she became an AIA agent... gave her my support... was surprised that she would take up insurance, considering she's a Computer Science graduate... a world of difference... she was doing very well... got her Million Dollar Club status within a year or two... continued to give her my support on insurance...

she got married... moved to Hougang... became a Catholic... had a child... on and off she would still drop by to discuss about her faith... how she was fated to become a Catholic... the shift to Hougang was an indication cos there were a number of Catholic churches in the area... always encouraged me to attend mass with her...

then in 2003, she suddenly quit the insurance business... went to the UK with her husband for work... her younger sister took over her portfolio and became my agent...

now and then i would still hear bits and pieces about her from her sister...

and now all of a sudden... she's left us...

rest in peace, my dear senior... may you find peace in the Kingdom of Heaven...

3. birthday celebrations (officially ended on Saturday, with KC (from Kuala Lumpur) here in Singapore to watch Rent)...

25 November 2005 (Friday)

met Mel and Pat for dinner at Tanjong Katong Complex... didn't know they have a Qian Xi Lou here in the dominantly-Malay area... anyway, the food was good and the company was superb...

dinner was on Pat as my birthday celebrations... while Mel brought me a "Dave Teo" signboard for my door... as well as a couple of T-shirts from BKK...

after dinner it was home for mahjong with mum... mum and i ended up the winners for the night... sorry dudes...

26 November 2005 (Saturday)

went to buy breakfast for the family... heard the "mai-ya-hee, mai-ya-hoo, mai-ya-haa" song around the corner... realised that it was from the childcare centre... kids nowadays are having much more fun than those of my time... hahahaha...

in the evening, met Ken, Clarence and Shaun for dinner at Oasis, before the David Tao concert... Ken actually bought a gift for me... so touched... *sob sob* thanx, dude...

27 November 2005 (Sunday)

R SMSed me in the afternoon, asking whether i'll be home... he later drove to my place to pass me a birthday gift... so very very touched... *sob sob sob sob* thanx, pal!

in the evening, had my birthday dinner with my family, including my uncle... traditionally, uncle will give us ang paos for birthdays... no exception this year... dinner was steamboat buffet at Copthorne Hotel... great stuff...

29 November 2005 (Tuesday)

my boss and colleagues did a birthday celebration for me... took me by surprise cos boss told me that there's a meeting (apparently with the new girl who just joined us today)... i liked the cake a lot... and the pillow cases they bought for me... one says "women dream about love"; another says "men dream about sex"... how more appropriate can that be? hahahaha...

Christina, the HR girl, further surprised me with a tub of Haagen Dazs ice-cream... ooh la la... simply sedap... thanx, girl...

birthday dinner with Kerry, SL and LK... the four of us have been steadily meeting now and then for dinners, karaoke and movies... keep it up, my dear friends...

dinner was at Swiss Culture, Suntec City... we had so much food... i enjoyed the cheese fondue very very much...

SL, who just returned from his holidays in Las Vegas and San Francisco, gave me the Madonna Hung Up US maxi single... wonderful remixes, especially the Chus and Ceballos one... SL also got me the Kung Fu Hustle DVD... hehe... LK bought me a box of chocolates, knowing that i'm a chocolate monster... Kerry already got the bedsheets for me last Thursday...

we had so much fun eating and chatting... SL surprised us with more chocolates from America as desserts...

it's been great birthday celebrations so far... enjoying myself to the limit...

30 November 2005 (Wednesday)

it's just past midnight and my mobile phone started buzzing... SMS birthday greetings from B and SL...

in the morning when i woke up, more SMSes from Ming (ex-colleague), Linda (ex-colleague), Angel (my Sec 4 cousin), Eugene (running buddy), Kal (clubbing kaki), Vincent (friend whose nephew also has the same birthday on 30 November), Sarah (old-time friend), Arun (ex-colleague who's working in Australia), my elder brother and my sister-in-law in The Philippines and R (friend). And just before the end of the day, my colleague from another Department, K, also SMSed me... there were also email birthday wishes from friends... such lovely people i know... thanx a million, my dearest friends...

went shopping with mum at OG, Chinatown... bought more bedsheets... mum also went to buy mahjong tiles... nice...

the biggest birthday present that i could ask for was a phone call from my HK friend, Ken... Ken "disappeared" shortly after my return from my HK business trip in March 2005... didn't hear anything from him for a couple of months... was saddened by his disappearance... then a friend of Ken called to inform me that Ken was involved in an accident while visiting his dad in Australia... apparently his lungs burst during a diving trip and was hospitalised...

now Ken's up and running... back in HK... looking for a job... i was so glad to hear that he's fine now... and this must be the best birthday present this year...

2 December 2005 (Friday)

had dinner with my colleagues... so much of negativity about the company... got affected by it... totally demoralised now... gotta start thinking about my future... promised my staff that i will at least stay until the end of the year... kept my promise... but now i'm not sure what's gonna happened come 2 January 2006... sigh... anyway i have to wait for the year-end bonus... also there's the 3 months' notice that i have to give... i wonder which company still practise this??

3 December 2005 (Saturday)

KC from Kuala Lumpur arrived in Singapore this morning... met him for Prime at 2pm... quite a nice movie... went to have mango dessert at Xu Liu Shan... expensive stuff... but tasty...

after that we met Kerry at The Heeren and we took a cab to Kallang Theatre... had porridge dinner at Oasis, together with Michael and Eddie...

bidded Michael and Eddie farewell and went to watch Rent... frankly, i was disappointed... somehow the musical lacks the punch and the power... when it was previously staged in 2001, i enjoyed it... of course, Karen Mok was a letdown... she simply couldn't and shouldn't do musicals... best to stick to her singing (studio)...

after that, we adjourned to Menotti (Raffles City) for coffee and cakes, before seeing KC back to the hostel...

it's such joy to see KC again... he's been travelling to SG now and then for the arts performances and the film festival... thanx for the support to the SG art scene... hahahaha...

4 December 2005 (Sunday)

woke up, had breakfast and started to tidy my room... managed to finish the books and the DVDs... so happy...

Mel, Pat and Andrew came for mahjong... as i couldn't play with them, they played with my mum... mum won, again... so far her track record has been 100% win with Pat and Mel... watch out guys... hahahaha...

after that we went to Chomp Chomp for dinner... lucky Pat struck lottery again, 3 times in a row... well done!! looking forward to more free dinners in the future...

came home... continued packing... slept... another week ahead...

God help us all...
